Snow Mountain at Stone Mountain Park
 |
Stone Mountain Park, will open Snow Mountain on Dec. 26 and continue weekends through March 7.
Snow Mountain offers tubing runs, a special place to make the ultimate snow man and snow angels, a snowball making zone and a play area for younger kids. The snow park includes various sites from which to view the activities including an observation area, a group of warming chalets and bonfires for roasting marshmallows and making s'mores.
Tickets are $25 for adults and kids age three through 11 and include a two-hour tubing session plus unlimited time in the snow play areas. The snow park is open to all ages. Kids should have a packed lunch, snack, and water bottle, and should dress for lots of messy fun. Weather permitting, lunch will be a picnic at Lay Park (a short walk from the studio) to allow kids to refresh their creative juices with some physical activity. Spring Break camp will include projects geared to the season - flower pots, vases, birdhouses, etc.

The festival also features a free panel discussion on various film industry topics with Osborne and a panel of film professionals. The festival is $60 for a weekend pass and $45 for students. Make a Kaleidoscope - As part of our month-long M.C Escher tribute, guest artist Toni Carlucci will show you how to make a kaleidoscope, so you can see the world as a tessellation. Athens Kids Expo will be a can’t miss family event! The fabulous Classic Center in downtown Athens will be turned into Kid City on Saturday, March 27, 2010 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.
Athens Kids Expo will feature products and services for toddlers to young teens including educational products, toys and hobbies, heath care services and products, apparel, music and entertainment, arts and crafts, safety products and services, schools and daycare services, summer camps, and much more.
Visitors will see fabulous entertainment and experience games, face painting, bounce houses, and balloon artists.
Tickets, available at the door, are $3.00. Children under 2 are admitted free. Children must be accompanied by an adult!
A portion of the Athens Kids Expo's proceeds will go to benefit the Athens Boys & Girls Club!

Robert Osborne Classic Film Festival

Turner Classic Movies host Robert Osborne returns to Athens March 25-28, 2010 for the 6th annual Robert Osborne Classic Film Festival. The Classic Center Theatre transforms into a full-scale "movie palace"as Hollywood screen legends come to life. Iconic movie expert Osborne celebrates classic motion pictures by screening several newly re-mastered 35mm prints of classic films. The 2010 festival includes screenings of The Wizard of Oz, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, The Godfather II and a midnight showing of The Shining. Special guests related to each film will conduct an on-stage Q &A after all screenings. The festival also features a free panel discussion on various film industry topics with Osborne and a panel of film professionals. The festival is $60 for a weekend pass and $45 for students. Students in the Performing Arts at Brenau University will present a program entitled Water Music: Handle with Care. Different selections highlight artistic expressions from the music department, the theater department and the dance department. Some performances are collaborations. The repertoire includes Renaissance motets to opera to "Steam Heat." We are delighted to be invited to the State Botanical Garden and to share our global awareness through performances about "sustainability" and the issue of "water."
The Gardenside Café will be open before and during the March 28 concert.
